Introduction
BooksOops (“the App”) is a free application designed to help you track borrowed books and their return deadlines. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App collects and how it is used.
Data We Collect
BooksOops does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.
All data is stored locally on your device:
- Book information — Title, author, ISBN, cover image, borrow date, and return date that you enter manually or via barcode scanning.
- App preferences — Notification settings, dark mode preference, and language choice.
- Cover photos — Photos taken with the camera are stored locally on your device only.

- Google Books API — When you scan a barcode, the ISBN is sent to the Google Books API to retrieve book information (title, author, cover image). This is the only network request the App makes. Google’s privacy policy applies: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google ML Kit — Barcode scanning is performed entirely on-device. No image data is sent to any server.
Camera Permission
The App requests camera permission for two purposes:
